Nakshatra Baby Name Guide
The Vedic tradition uses the 27 Nakshatras — lunar mansions or birth stars — to determine the auspicious starting syllable (aksharas) of your child's name.
In Vedic astrology, the moon's position at the moment of birth falls within one of 27 Nakshatras (constellations along the zodiac). This Janma Nakshatra determines four sacred syllables, and tradition holds that the baby's name should begin with one of them to bring lifelong harmony with the cosmic vibration the child was born under.
Each Nakshatra has a ruling planet (graha), a presiding deity, and a unique nature. A name chosen in alignment with the birth star is believed to strengthen the child's mind, health, and dharmic path. Below is a complete reference of all 27 Nakshatras and their naming syllables.
